ARLINGTON, LOT 60
Taps.
No other song
more haunting.
Brings forth
wails of mothers,
young brides,
broken dreams.
And the most chilling,
stoic teardrops cascading
in silence,
somber regret
for commands ordered,
words never uttered.
Flowers,
photos,
trinkets,
upon otherwise uniform stone
Youngsters
naively dance
upon the saddest acre,
reminding us all
that life will go on,
regardless of whether
we learn
from our mistakes.
