Here it is! When you print it out be sure to go to settings, Advanced, and check the box that says use Black Ink Only! Otherwise it will look an unnatural color, since this was made for greyscale.
July 2009 issue (which was the June-July 2009 issue) will be in print soon as well, for now you may view or print from the file here. Roger E. Naylor helped copy edit it.…

Sonnet III.
I have settled my account. The evi-
dence runs hot within my continuance,
which forms my excuse, a divine imper-
ative. The beauty and glory I left behind
now walks around, shining, perfect in ev-
ery way. Having extended my po-
sterity, I can now pass, only to leave
this world a richer place. The only question
is, am I now immortal? It’s hard to tell;
Iran and North Korea, Russia and China,
are just a few of many ticking time-
bombs capable of swiftly deciding
the longevi…

Where have all the kisses gone?
I remember kisses like lightning
Sweeter then chocolate
More beautiful then sunsets
Kisses that tasted like spring
Opening my heart like a flower
Thirsty for the rain, hungry for the sun
Begging for the only divine sustance I knew
Where have all the kisses gone?
Did we leave them down at the beaches where we used to swim?
Have they been washed away by the tide
Ghosts left on cold forgotten beaches
Did we leave them at the dance hall?
Did the music drown them ou…

Field of wild flowers
A secret garden hidden
Somewhere within the secret paths of your
Twisted dramatic heart
Laughter echos
Th God of mischief out to play
With my youthful dreams
My hopeless romantics heart
Beautiful flower girls and
Enchanting beast boys
Songs and hands intertwined
In the darkness drenched mysteries of a faerie tale
Moonlit walking
Down a path wet with dew
The sweat of our nightly dances
The reality of this unreality
Kissed by night creatures
Summer wine and spring berries…

This barren city we call our home
The smoke of our sins that choke our lungs
When you have fallen from grace
All that is left is this demon inside
I can taste the bittersweet memories
Of love on my tongue
Ideas I knew of
But know nothing about
So we walk down the streets of Los Diablos
Wings, a dirty gray, hidden behind chains
Wanting to relive our past experiences
But never finding the road to redemption

there are some things you can know
what i tell you is what you should believe
and then...
and then there are some things
that i would rather die than utter them
even with my last breath you'll never know
its not that i don't trust you
but these words are poison
they'll tear you apart
reach for you as if..
as if i had stolen a kiss from your lips
as if i poured them into you veins
i won't let them touch you
somethings are better left for the dead
somethings are better left unsaid
ignorance…

A midnight swim
In the lonely hours of night
The moon casting a pale smile
In the velvet quite of dark
The cool blue pool
Throwing shadows on my skin
His eyes, like sea glass, close slowly
Pearls melted over his bones
A ocean tucked away
In a backyard of L.A.
It's the taste of chlorine that lingers
Though I can imagine the salt of forgotten beaches
A mermaid swimming in the depths of my soul
Though, supposedly, I am to old for such dreams
The reflections on the water
Break with each ripple my…

You have one piece

Short. I know.
Based off my actual emotions.

So been thinking of doing beatboxing, rap, spoken word, such things of the like.
I got some poetry/lyric scraps here but need some help in finishing them.
"Time for War." (Unfinished)
One, Two, Three. Four.
It's time for war.
Five, Six, Seven, Eight.
It's time to annihilate.
---------------
"Chemical Trap" (Unfinished)
Love is a
chemical trap.
That's why it has a
bad rap.
Cuz hun,
I fell in love with you.
But now
you're just making me blue.

ARLINGTON, LOT 60
Taps.
No other song
more haunting.
Brings forth
wails of mothers,
young brides,
broken dreams.
And the most chilling,
stoic teardrops cascading
in silence,
somber regret
for commands ordered,
words never uttered.
Flowers,
photos,
trinkets,
upon otherwise uniform stone
Youngsters
naively dance
upon the saddest acre,
reminding us all
that life will go on,
regardless of whether
we learn
from our mistakes.

I suggest, since most of us here are writers or connected with such, that we connect with other writers and artists and make collaborations, and learn what they have learned so that we expand our horizons.
It doesn't hurt to make friends here and chat, make small talk, and discover our interests... there might be a poem in it, or a painting, or a book, etc.
It does kind of hurt to just let this opportunity to connect slide by!

Hi everyone,
The cost of poetsespresso is $150+ each issue when done through the Writers' Guild.
I hope I can get the same price if I have to print it on my own.
Unfortunately as of the end of this semester after the May issue of Artifact, the Writers' Guild will not have enough to cover another issue of poetsespresso newsletter or Artifact.
That means if I want to keep poetsespresso, the print version, going, I will have to do one of the following:
1. Sell four page-size advertisements in…

Cosmopolitan Confessions
Fan of the frou-frou,
fruity concoctions,
I confess
to enjoy the caress
of the chilled stem,
licking fine sweet crystals
from the rim of my lemon drop
martini,
wondering perhaps
if the cool gentleman
across the bar
knows
a room full of kisses
awaits
should he notice.
Alas,
I order another—
dirty
with extra olives.

It's interesting, going back into the habit of writing. i've always been creating things, writing poetry or stories, and an army of tasteless songs. But I have got back into writing, after about ten years of not doing it seriously. It's a very satisfying job to me, one that makes me feel completely satisfied whenever I complete a page, or a really well done paragraph for that matter.
i have been working on a book that I've had in my head for the longest time, stored away and accumulating over…

I have very helpful friends that might be able to implement the ideas they pass to me in their own way, but here's the reasons why two cool ideas they passed to me won't work
for me in particular.
Idea #1:
Charge a $5 reading fee for submissions and give feedback. To cover the publication costs and to shape future submissions to let them know what it is I like and need for the publication so they can better suit my needs.
Reasons why it won't work
for me:
a. The handling of mon…

Truth Is …
I write about truth
But
Truth is …
I’d rather be a kid again
Than to pay
All these bills
Truth is …
I hate drama
But
Every pretty momma
That comes my way
Plays games
With my
Heart
And
I’ve played the fool
So many times
Thus far …
They seem to bring
The drama out of me
Truth is …
I still miss the friends
I lost in the
Move …
So when I meet someone new
I try to prove that I fit
In …
But they can’t understand
The initial quietness
So they shy away
Real quick
Truth is …
I have a ruthle…
